Beauty Afar

Love, it is moonlight in they heavens now,
But here the sunset lingers in the west
Like scarlet domes of Avalon the Blest.
I stand beside the sea and dream thou
Upholdest to the moon thy whiter brow,
And all my soul upflames in holy quest
Of words to tell thy beauty, till my breast
Is like a shrine where choral angels bow.

He scattered pearls seem centered in thy face;
She robes thee in a pure and lustrous rain.
Love! I beseach the from as far a place
And ask thy mercy for a day unknown,
Abiding at the gates of Heaven in vain,
For oh! I enter by thy kiss alone!
