Daphne and Mark were married two years, and had a baby named Cheryl.
She was the golden sunshine of each morn, and each dusk's lustrous pearl.
Those were glorious, prismatic days, when sun naturally chased pale moon;
And in the heart of the vivacious country, as trees held tunes, of leafy June.
Daphne had always loved exquisite poetry, and yearned to create it herself;
And planned to do so one day, because dreams shouldn't be left on a shelf.
Croaking frogs told of passing footfalls, as friends came, in fetching colors.
Skies were flecked in fabulous fuchsia, and welcomed, by opened shutters!
Fleece clouds, fabricated in the blue factory, waved at family, on their way.
Then came brief moments of red butterfly fame; like joy visiting, for a day.
Daphne lived in the house of youth, hers a brand new home, and a new life;
Where marigold sun shone daily, in deep green precincts, of colorful wildlife.
Scooters flew down cobbled sidewalks, colorful sneakers going to and fro;
On their street of childhood scenes and salvia, and blue jay at the window.
Noises seldom heard, were at times noticed, and navy skies wore wild colors;
When newest neighbors visited. They exchanged charm of different cultures!
'Red Indian pipe' blooms smoked for peace, as 'sea daffodils' felt cool spray;
When rare 'vulsa,' flowers endured one week, wilting, in a summer of dismay.
'Double crazy' daisy finally got help, from silver rain and gold sun, renowned;
As 'rainbow mix daisies' turned the tables, causing smiles here on the ground.
One classic afternoon, on the porch of warm breezes, Daphne rocked Cheryl;
And in sunlit cradle of lily scents, Cheryl fell asleep, lulled by swaying, gentle.
Her tears forgotten before they'd finished falling, she was nestled in dreams;
As if apricot sun was chasing ivory moon, to decipher its mysterious themes!
In that precious moment, unparalleled by another, Daphne was very inspired;
Then sang the nursery rhyme that got famous, like a loved lullaby, unexpired.
Cheryl grew up to be a mother, as twinkling stars flashed scarlet and maroon;
And thus the song was passed to generations, until some published the tune!
'Golden slumbers kiss your eyes
Smiles await you when you rise
Sleep pretty baby, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby.
Cares you know not, therefore sleep
While over you a watch I'll keep
Sleep pretty darling, do not cry
And I will sing a lullaby.'
