Angelica was thirteen years old, and 8th grade graduation was nearing;
Like scarlet lilies and the song of blue jays, just ahead, in grassy clearing.
Her school would be having its celebration, in orange excitement days;
And her family would all be attending, everyone lost in happiness haze!
Angelica's school would also hold an assembly, with talk of high hopes;
And their principal and many others would speak, like acorns, to tall oaks!
Her friends found themselves elated, too, for they'd graduate, together;
Like the fall leaves, flaming as one, in fascinating skies, of crisp weather.
Frayed, wispy clouds floated on the blue, drifting off to somedays, afar;
When fate delivered wishes' fulfillment, family entering a door, left ajar.
Angie lived in the house of advancement, and sunshine of eventful days,
When life was ever busy unfolding; like summertime flowers and ballets.
Silence and sound sometimes vied, on their street of shouts and sighs;
At the site of golden sparrow's first song. Of pink jasmine, scent surprise.
While neglected, nowhere held charm, in nowness of neighbors passing;
In the apricot noon of the noticer, and of red and purple blooms, clashing.
'Cuckoo flower' emerged each hour, chanting, when 'tulips' were kissing;
And 'coneflowers' licked chocolate ice cream, as satin moon went missing.
'Cornflowers' dressed elegantly for dinner, in the colors of fringed finery;
When 'floss' flowers improved dental hygiene, for pretty smiles, like ivory.
Graduation day dawned in purple mist, with the yellow stars yet startling.
Angie looked pretty, dressed in her new clothes, her wide eyes sparkling.
But, her heel was caught in a sidewalk crack, and then torn from the shoe!
Luckily, there was time to visit a cobbler, like creative skills, of great value.
Commencement wouldn't begin until two thirty, so the shoe was mended;
For by then, it was one thirty two, like a home, caretakers lovingly tended.
The ceremony was so beautiful, like whipped cream, chocolate cake, yummy;
And the young teens were all abuzz, like amber, bumblebee days of honey.
Hearts filled with hopes and dreams, as buds bloom, when we are walking;
Or breathless plans are shared with someone, on a day when we're talking!
'Cobbler, cobbler, mend my shoe
Get it done by half past two.
Stitch it up, and stitch it down
Then I'll give you half a crown.'
