First Kiss

Danielle and Kevin were childhood sweethearts, as love sometimes goes.
Kevin carried all her books to school, when sun rays fell, on orange rose.

They often studied together after school, like eclipsing spheres, sharing;
When sun and moon swap notes in passing, and diamond ring is glaring.

They already had sweet, wildest dreams, like being somebody successful.
Fragrant days flew by in tandem, like time's spring green house, ancestral.

They had each won spelling bees, with the stories in the local newspaper;
And they both took joy in learning, like an abstract artwork's glad, creator.

Friends played at their family homes, jumping hopscotch in the schoolyard.
Then fiery sun went down, red and golden, while restless winds blew hard.

Family came with fuchsia dawn rays, as if from sweet, petal strewn dreams;
Visiting both children's families. They were all the best of friends, it seems.

Danielle and Kevin lived in houses of welcome, doormats gracing any door.
Hot, golden days held leavings and returnings, like yellow butterfly uproar!

Sable skies were ofttimes tinged with scarlet, on their street besde the sea.
It was forever scrubbing the sandy beach, like passion for one thing, only.

Nature put out green carpets for neighbors, who also admired nice flowers;
When they came calling like a bell, there until caramel, early evening hours.

'Burgundy spire' swept sunset skies, near 'black mondo grass,' under moon;
And lush, 'red carousel chrysanthemums,' kept spinning round., in hot June.

'Red spider lily' plants wore silken dresses, that they had never worn before.
'Mediterranean sea holly' was also exotically lovely, far from azul, surf's roar.

Danielle and Kevin often played after school, in a park close to their homes;
Like full moon seems to sit upon a hill, when bees have left for honeycombs.

One day, they laughingly climbed up a tree, and sat on a wide, lower branch;
And swinging their legs, they chatted, as they watched the fireflies advance.

Danielle was so pretty that Kevin moved closer, enough to kiss her cherry lips;
Like first crimson light, of a summer morning, adding luster to passing ships.

The magic was interrupted by furtive movement, which caught Danielle's eye.
Behind bushes, younger neighbors giggled, like rainbow of storm's goodbye.

Ten years later, they were wed, like certainty of tuneful, ultimately, someday;
And the teasing rhyme became famous, like song and dance in nursery play!

'Danielle and Kevin,
Sitting in a tree
K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
First comes love
Then comes marriage
Then comes baby
In a baby carriage!'
