See You Yesterday

Today we die a living death
a death in life still full of life
to awaken in a future that was
yesterday
to a life with all it's worth and
many promises
clasped with a grip and hold
so firm yet unfelt

like a promise from the present
made in the past
with feigned laughter and smiles
tied to the now
the very yesterday of tomorrow's
present
though faint and distant in
memory
I see you yesterday

for tomorrow we live to die again
so long a journey with no end in
view
the future is past and the
present has yet to come
tomorrow is now and yesterday
a memory yet to happen

every effort to change the past
becomes a present
and a future locked up deep
in uncertainty
that yesterday would live again
tomorrow was sacrificed
and the now left to bear the cost
See you yesterday
