Blue Moon

In the end
Always glad
I saw you happen
When you saw I happened

There you appeared
Glamorous distant moon
In an orbit that I would happen by
So returned our inroads
From an unfinished goodbye
Hanging just a booth over

There we appeared by happenstance
This was one fluke
And yet you stayed for more than a drink
More than one game
More than one pawn for more than one rook

We left that knowing
Stashed in the sidewalk cracks,
Floor boards and seat cushions.
Some say that shadow city still exists
I say it never did

Always glad
I saw you happen
When you saw I happened
It was never imaginary,

Unless you
Revoked your membership
To Weirdos Anonymous
I wouldn’t mistake an inside joke
For an outside one
