Now, after being reborn,
the knight wished for only one thing—
to meet the princess again.
In the heat of his hatred,
he challenged the prince
to a duel.
The outcome was already carved in fate;
there was no chance the prince
could stand against the knight.
And so,
the knight won.
But the princess wept
for the prince’s fall.
She whispered,
“Whether you lose or whether you win,
you will always live within
the chambers of my heart.”
All this time,
the knight had believed
the princess loved him—
that he could never marry her
only because no royal blood
flowed through his veins.
But truth struck sharper than any blade:
she had never loved him.
It was he who mistook her kindness
for affection,
her gentle smile
for a promise.
Upon learning this,
he laughed—
a hollow, breaking laugh—
and ended his life
with the very dagger
the king had given him
to protect the princess.
And so,
the knight’s tale closed
in complete and quiet sorrow—
a story of love imagined,
and a heart undone
by its own dreams.
