The Absence of Absence

I'm in a tragedy,
I can't explain.
In a peculiar state of mind
About what I'm not certain.

Analyzing precisely everything
is not smart—it's dumb.
What am I feeling?
Ardent lady now emotionally numb?

No, I'm not... Or maybe I'm just not sure.
But it's not the same as it was before.
Test me again, before I shut down.
Whatever I'm having, give me a cure.

My emotional contagion is lost,
If someday you cry...
I will not know how to feel,
But I'll fix the issue, will ask you why.

I don't miss anyone,
I'll not miss you, not anymore.
Will love to spend time, but
Someone leaving won't hurt my core.

I'm so befuddled,
I like company, I like solitude too,
But I'm not dependent on old bonds and...
New people suck, they always do.

I'll be possessive, maybe jealous too
If somebody gets too close, calls you "mine."
If we never talked ever again,
I'm afraid that I'll be fine.

This detachment is peaceful,
But it's a curse.
I was happy to be let go of things,
Now it's getting worse.

Your presence, your warmth,
I'd love to keep.
I'll shower you with affection, but
When you leave, I'll not weep.

I'm not lonely, I'm in peace.
Save me, please, I know I'm not that cold.
Opposite from what I used to be,
But now I don't care if I need a hand to hold.

I wanted to get rid of my attachment issues,
Now I'm fine without anyone... I shouldn't be.
I wanted this version, but not at this cost,
Not from detaching from everybody.

Dependence is pathetic, detachment too.
To anyone now, I'm unable to say I miss you.
